SEPTEMBER 1-1

September 1-1

Unforgettable heartbreak

Man set to murder

Reasons of power
Ideological views
Mark a holy war

Two torpedoed birds
Encoded by wickedness
Embedded buildings

There was fire, glass, fumes
Loud screams of pain and pleading
Quiet cries of grief

Heroic fighters
And plain individuals
Were symbols of win

Between East and West
Masterminded by turbaned men
Steering broken souls

To make a statement
Paint indelible portrait
Of lost human-ness

Fifteen years past, I
Remember devastation
Smoke fills memories

Rebirths chaos
Visceral panic and fear
Suffocates spirits

Sadly, holy war
Futile aims steeped in darkness
Cross all boundaries

Why do we not grasp
No reason is good enough
To kill each other?
