No chance for goodbye

My broken heart tormented

Since you passed away

There were two of you.

Battling a ruthless foe. Though

I know God was there.

Patiently waiting

As you fought once more for Us

Being left behind

I ponder and cry.

We did not have a farewell

No spoken goodbye.

Death stole our adieus.

My heart, it was shattered. And

My vote did not count      

A godsend for you.

For I would have asked you to

Stay to say goodbye

His death closed my year

Her death began the new one

Tears ran down my face
